1. Information relevant to you
2. Exceptional Portfolio discounts - no initial charges
3. Bringing your portfolio to life
4. The Direct Advice Transfer Service
1. Information relevant to you We aim to keep our information provision relevant, succinct and easy to understand for all readers. We believe that there is no shortage of information provided about investing: most of which is pure speculation. The most important factors for all private investors are to know what your objectives and time frames are, and to understand and control the levels of risk across your savings and investments. Chartwell Direct can provide you with access to approximately 2,000 funds with associated discounts, however this is of little help to those who do not know who to invest with and do not wish to pore over fund manager analysis facts and figures. Our ISA portfolios provide you with ‘ideal’ investment solutions and come with what we believe to be a unique ongoing service commitment to all investors.
2. Exceptional Portfolio discounts - no initial charges The discount service that Chartwell Direct provides reduces and/or wipes out any initial charge for investing into the unit trusts/OEICs within the portfolios. This ensures that as much of your money as possible is invested from day one. We have secured these terms because of our size and ability to negotiate large discounts with all the leading fund management houses. These charges are often in the region of 5% of the money invested into the portfolio, and so can add up to a real saving of over £450 on a full ISA investment of £10,200 (2010/11 tax year). We have calculated the savings for each of the portfolios below and illustrate the extent of the reduction on the initial charges.

3. Bringing your portfolio to life Even the most enthusiastic investor could struggle to get excited about the sometimes fairly predictable names and objectives of the various funds available in the retail market. As an investment broker, there is little we can do about that other than ensure that we use our internal research team to keep on top of any vital changes or performance issues with each fund manager.
However, we do believe that all private investors should be given the chance to understand a bit about where their money is being invested and, in the case of our ISAs, why your chosen portfolio is sophisticated as well as simple. We have endeavoured to bring this all to life for you by providing you with the model portfolio factsheets. We have also included some commentary on performance and status of the model portfolios we have featured for consideration in previous years.
There are five unit trusts/OEICs handpicked from different fund managers in each portfolio. The information provided on each risk or income graded portfolio draws a
picture of:
• ‘where in the world’ your money is invested
• what industries and what assets it is invested in
• the top ten holdings within the combined portfolio
On top of this there is an analysis of how diversified your chosen portfolio is, as this can mitigate a large amount of investment risk for the private investor. The ‘concentration ratio’ assesses whether there are some dangerously large dependencies on the performance of one company or one country/industry. The higher the ‘concentration’ number, the more diversified you are.
4. The Direct Advice ISA Transfer Service Given the volatility of markets over the past two years we do believe that all investors should consider re-assessing their ISA portfolios and considering whether their mix of funds, perhaps built up over a long period, remains appropriate for them. For example some investors have been surprised by the fluctuations that they have seen in recent valuations.
Now is a good time to make sure that you are happy with all your current investments. With taxes expected to rise over the coming years, taking advantage of this tax-efficient savings account has never been so crucial.
As the end of the tax year looms, the ‘Direct Advice’ Financial Planning team is ideally placed to provide tax-efficient suggestions to you. We think you will find the service highly efficient and professional.Looking at your ISA investments is just one way that our ‘Direct Advice’ Financial Planners can help you manage your financial
affairs more effectively. Many of our clients are benefiting from our ISA Review service that ensures that your portfolio continues to be in line with your attitude to investment risk and financial objectives.
